Special Announcement!
Compassionate Clowning: Our Upcoming Outreach Trip to the Philippines

In the Philippines, major flooding recently caused incredible damage, loss of lives and livelihoods. OOCHEE and Friends are off to see how we can be of help.

In January we will take a two-week trip to the Philippines. The purpose of the trip is to bring love, hope and a bit of comic relief to those who feel abandoned, lost and forsaken. The clowns will visit hospitals, schools, rehab centers, nursing homes and churches to offer "holy humor" and joy.  A couple from my church, retired pastors Eunice and Joel Lewton, will guide the tour, arranging our accommodations and visitations.

I am actively seeking financial assistance to help offset the costs of this trip. If you feel moved to help, click here to donate using your PayPal account or credit card. Checks payable to Kaleidoscope Konnections (a non-profit organization) can be mailed to: 3416 Taylor Way, Yakima, WA 98902.

I thank you in advance for any level of support you can provide!
Public Event

When: Sunday, November 1, 9:00 AM service
Where: Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 N 48th Ave Yakima, WA 98908

OOCHEE will perform a special mime called Lord, I Offer My Life for the stewardship drive at Wesley United Methodist Church.

This whimsical portrayal of life's challenges-from relationships, to mistakes, to competition, money and pride-depicts them as a blessed whole when given to the Lord. Please come see it if you're able!

Clown Ministry:

OOCHEE spent a week this past summer on Orcas Island, clowning with 44 underprivileged, high-risk young boys and their high-school mentors. Three times a day I gave performances that emphasized God's never-ending love and grace. Next year will be the 20th anniversary of this "Trailseekers" program, and I look forward to returning for the fifth time to connect with youth in this powerful way.

This summer, five churches invited OOCHEE to perform creative programs to enhance the theme of their Vacation Bible School. Teachers noted the positive response from the children. "What a blessing you are!" they said. "Everything you did reinforced what we've been teaching the kids."

Contact me soon to book OOCHEE for next year's VBS. It's never too early to start planning!

Speaking Engagements:

I recently had the honor of speaking at two unique, life-affirming events. Early this summer, I participated in an outdoor luncheon and fashion show organized around the theme "Fashioned by God." And in August, I was the keynote speaker at a women's retreat in Clarkston, where the topic was "Encouraging One Another."

Please consider inviting me to speak at one of your upcoming events or retreats.

School Programs:

I feel so privileged to be a part of community events like the recent Day of Hope, where we remembered those who have been killed as a result of gang violence. Gatherings like this remind me how blessed I am, and inspire me to devote even more of my energy to sharing God's message.

This fall OOCHEE and Friends will present a newly revised clown program called Bloomin' Buddies. This 45-minute musical presentation helps prevent bullying, gang involvement and drug use among youth. This engaging, high-energy presentation assures youth and adults alike that they can a make a positive difference in the lives of others. Woven throughout the show are Clowning Aroundtips on building confidence, using words to solve problems, and respecting differences and feelings.

This summer a nine-year old boy recognized OOCHEE at his Vacation Bible School. He remembered that I had visited his regular school, too. "When I get angry, I'm supposed to stop and count backward and then use my words and not hit," he said. It had been two years since OOCHEE and Friends had performed at that school. It's a simple but exciting example of the impact Bloomin' Buddies is making in the lives of our young children!

Want to learn more about Bloomin' Buddies? You'll find a video clip here, and a selection of songs from the program here.

The clowns would love to come to schools in your area! To book a show, please visit my website or call 509-452-2296.

Speaking Engagements:

Maureen SpeakingI'm a teacher at heart, so I'm looking forward to speaking at a Parent Education Forum on Wednesday, November 4th at Wesley United Methodist Church in Yakima. The topic is "Building Confidence in Children," and my talk will focus on communication techniques that parents and caregivers can use immediately to instill a sense of security and confidence in their children.

I'd be honored to come to your PTA meeting or church to make a similar educational presentation!
